Description

Held in November 1914, the Pennsylvania Women’s Suffrage Association convention drew hundreds to the Hotel Casey. Led by Rev. Anna Howard Shaw, president of the National Woman Suffrage Association and Mrs. Maxwell (Kate) Chapman, president of the Lackawanna County Equal Suffrage League and vice president of the PA Women’s Suffrage Association, the convention discussed plans for canvassing and voter registration, announced civil positions open to women, and featured exhibitions
explaining home management and pure and impure foods and drugs. Each female attendee was encouraged to convince 10 men to vote in support of equal suffrage.
