Description
After women were granted full participation in the political process, the Republican party established state and local committees for women separate from those for men. The Lackawanna County Women’s Republican Organization was led by the ubiquitous Mrs. Maxwell (Kate) Chapman. They published a monthly journal, The Searchlight, with a mission to “organize, educate, and agitate” support among women for political action.
